East Midlands Development Agency (emda) is the economic development agency representing the United Kingdom¿s East Midlands region. As part of our role, we are responsible for bringing investment from overseas into the region, thereby creating new businesses and jobs. In Europe we operate under the England¿s East Midlands brand. A key inward investment market for us within Europe is Germany, and the German-speaking markets of Austria and Switzerland. emda is seeking to re-appoint representation in Germany following the termination of the current contract for representation. The objective of the contract is to represent England¿s East Midlands in Germany and, to a lesser extent, the German-speaking markets of Austria and Switzerland, in order to generate inward investment enquiries into the region leading to successful investments which directly create/ safeguard knowledge driven jobs. The contract will run for a period of 3 years, subject to satisfactory performance. Key outputs from the contract will be:- production of a 3 year business development plan in accordance with England¿s East Midlands requirements- implementation of an annual activity programme for Germany and German-speaking markets which is focussed ongenerating inward investment enquiries- developing and managing a portfolio of investment prospects from a variety of sources- visits to/ meetings with target companies identified as potential investors to the UK/England¿s East Midlands - co-ordinating and playing a significant role in inward visits by potential investors to the region- developing and growing a network of contacts and relationships with appropriate intermediary organisations relevant to business development- engaging with parent companies of key existing German, Austrian and Swiss investors in England¿s East Midlands- monthly reporting on activity undertaken- all importantly, contributing significantly to the successful investment of German, Austrian and Swiss owned companies into England¿s East Midlands.Companies tendering for this contract must either be based in Germany or have an existing operation in Germany from where the contract should be delivered.
