This study is carried out in view of the forthcoming application on 17.8.2015 of the EU Succession Regulation, and its objective is threefold: 1) to map the landscape of current and/or planned initiatives in EU Member States concerning ECS and, in particular: (i) the issuing of ECS as an electronic document; (ii) the registration of ECS (as an electronic or paper document); (iii) the interconnection of Member State registers of ECS; 2) to map the landscape of current and/or planned initiatives in EU Member States concerning national dispositions of property upon death (including wills) and, in particular: (i) the registration of dispositions of property upon death (including wills); (ii) the interconnection of Member State registers of dispositions of property upon death (including wills); 3) to consult stakeholders on their needs and expectations with regard to the abovementioned matters.
