246 - Provision of Risk Management System
The Trust is based on the Royal United Hospital (RUH) which occupies one site on the north-western edge of the city of Bath. It provides general acute hospital services for a population of 450,000-500,000.
The current risk reporting system was installed following work as part of a development with a new provider. The current system has modules for the Risk Register, Incident reporting, Complaints reporting, Claims reporting and PALS reporting. Although basic, it has links with the Trust?s current PAS system and also the ESR. This enables the correct capture of patient and staff details.
Existing Business Processes
The current system supports the Trust?s requirements to ensure the recording of incidents, claims, complaints, PALS contacts and risks. The current system supports the Trust?s requirements to ensure all patient safety incidents are uploaded to the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA). The current system is unable to provide accurate data on incidents and risk register entries, as part of the need for sound governance arrangements.
The new system must be able to integrate with our current and future PAS systems, and current and future ESR systems.
Capital funding for this project has been set aside for this current financial year (i.e. 2009/10). It cannot be carried forward. Therefore the full procurement and implementation must be completed by 31 Mar 10.
