EU Ecolabel scheme delivery in the UK – Invitation to provider engagement meeting
The UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is planning to issue an Invitation to Tender (ITT) for a new contract to deliver the EU Ecolabel scheme in the UK.
In advance, a provider engagement meeting will take place on 18th August 2015. This will be an opportunity for prospective suppliers to hear about and ask questions on Defra’s future contractor requirements for delivery of the EU Ecolabel Regulation. The event will also provide a chance for Defra to test the deliverability and potential supplier take-up of the future approach, which will be based largely on a self-funding model whereby scheme delivery is financed by licence holder fees.
The contract will be commissioned via a full competitive EU tender. Bids will be encouraged from suppliers that can:
- Apply technical knowledge of EU Ecolabel product groups
- Develop UK positions on product group criteria by consulting key stakeholders, including Government, businesses and industry
- Receive and process EU Ecolabel licence applications, including carrying out assessments and inspections, and making clear recommendations to Defra
- Set, calculate and collect application and annual licence fees (in accordance with EU limits), and use fees to fund scheme delivery
Details of the meeting are as follows:
Date: Tuesday 18th August 2015
Venue: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Nobel House, 17 Smith Square, London SW1P 3JR
