The Donegal CDB Peace and Reconciliation Partnership was set up in February 2008 to develop and implement the Donegal PEACE III Action Plans under Priority 1.1: Building Positive Relations at Local Level of the PEACE III Programme 2007 - 2013.
In 2010 the Partnership developed its second PEACE III Action Plan for Co. Donegal.
One of the main aims of the Donegal PEACE III Action Plan (2011 – 2013) is to challenge attitudes towards sectarianism and racism and the structures that support them. In order to achieve this aim, two objectives have been set as follows:
(i) Raising the level of consciousness that these issues do exist in Donegal.
(ii) Promoting a greater understanding of what constitutes sectarianism and racism so as to create a greater level of trust and tolerance within the county and on a cross border basis.
In order to achieve these objectives, the Donegal PEACE III Action Plan identifies the need to deliver a programme of interventions to challenge sectarianism and racism in the work place.
The Partnership is inviting tenders to develop and deliver a programme that will support workplaces to:
· Be free from discrimination and harassment
· Be welcoming to Black and minority ethnic (including Travellers) employees and service users.
· Accommodate and value cultural and linguistic diversity in the workplace, and promote and support English & or Irish language acquisition.
·Take practical steps to achieve full equality of opportunity in practice.
