The Wedge department in London delivers a wide range of television output across BBC One, Two, Three and Four along with BBC iPlayer to support in-house Comedy, Entertainment and Events (C&E) productions of approximately 70 hours per annum.
The Wedge delivers end-to-end post production, advising productions on best practice and workflow through the production process. With a broad range of programming output we handle all media formats from SD through to file with an increasing amount of UHD material beginning to be acquired. Following recent industry developments we offer in-house file based delivery including AQC and full technical checks as standard.
We have year round commissions, giving a steady stream of post production needs, with peak periods in Nov/Dec and February/March.
The company that is awarded the contract for this requirement will be required to work closely with the BBC to provide Technical Support for the Comedy & Entertainment, The Wedge Innovation Unit (C&E, the Wedge). They will potentially be required to work with our BBC technology partners, Atos, and support the internal BBC C&E, the Wedge client processes as well as the C&E, the Wedge users.
The successful Tenderer will provide technological support for the day to day Post Production facility. This facility comprises of a Xsan shared storage network with up to 9 edit suites (including dedicated grading and online), 1 dubbing suite, ingest, and up to 3 edit assistant systems.
