Under section 12(1) of the Coroners Act 1959 and rule 24 of the Coroners (Practice and Procedure) Rules (NI) 1963 the Coroner is responsible for having in place suitable arrangements for the conveying of bodies to a mortuary for the purpose of his investigation into the cause of death.
The Northern Ireland Courts & Tribunals Service, on behalf of the Coroners, therefore wishes to appoint competent and professional funeral directors (Service Providers) who will arrange for the conveying of bodies on the direction of the Coroners within specific districts Northern Ireland.
The service provision is required for the following district:
District G – Strabane, Foyle, Limavady, Magherfelt.
The initial period of contract is for two years. There are two options to extend for periods of up to twelve months each.
