The Project is for the provision of a flue stack waste heat recovery system.
The system required shall be designed and installed to recover all the waste heat energy available from the flue gases of the 3no existing 2821kW and 1no existing 10000lb gas fired steam boilers. The recovered heat is to be utilised to offset the current site steam demand and heat the existing LPHW hydronic loops within the hospital plantrooms G1 and B1 to 82’C , the domestic hot water systems within G1 and B1 to 65’C and the boiler make-up feed water to 80’C. The system shall recover this heat through the use of a fin tube economiser installation and a direct contact condensing flue stack economiser that shall recover the majority of the energy contained within the flue gases. It is anticipated that after this the economiser the temperature of the flue gases shall be in the region of 35’C or lower. The proposed system shall be capable of recovering in excess of 15% of the current site gas consumption – currently 16,777,000 kWh per annum
The Economic Operator shall be responsible for the complete system design, supply, coordination, specialist installation and full commissioning of the complete waste heat recovery system. The following aspects of work are anticipated. This list is not exhaustive and the Economic Operator shall be required to ensure that all works to provide the satisfactory design, installation and commissioning of the project are carried out under any appointment.
o Full Scheme Design to meet the performance specification for the project;
o Detailed survey and analysis of existing services infrastructure;
o Full design calculations including pipework and ductwork sizing, pump specification and selection plant sizing and equipment selection;
o Preparation of detailed design and installation working drawings and provision of same to client;
o Coordination and installation of the works by suitably qualified personnel; and
o Full commissioning of the scheme.
