The City of Cardiff Council wishes to appoint a contractor to construct a 3G football facility at Pentwyn Leisure Centre, Cardiff. The Leisure Centre currently maintains 3 outdoor tennis courts. The site has a well drained macadam base within a walled perimeter, high sports fence and metal halide floodlights, making it ideal for upgrading to modern standards to cater to current community needs and raise income for the Pentwyn Leisure Centre. Currently the facility does not earn sufficient income as tennis courts. The project proposal is to overlay the existing court with a synthetic 3G carpet and shock pad for football, to replace the existing fence (currently damaged and in poor condition) and floodlight lamps. The existing lamps are fully functional but the Client wishes to replace them with LED in order to reduce energy consumption. New anti-climb fencing with key pad entry system will secure the site and control access on a pay-to-play basis. A player operated push button control will enable clubs to turn the floodlights on at weekends when leisure centre staff are unavailable.
