Description:
Description:
The works consist of re-surfacing to a depth of 40mm on all three running lanes of the northbound / southbound carriageways between marker post 380/5 and 386/7, a length of 6200m. In addition to these limits, the re-surfacing extends to marker post 387/1 on the northbound carriageway (additional 400m) and to 380/2 on the southbound carriageway (additional 300mm).

The scheme also includes the removal of the existing steel barrier in the central reserve and replacement with a Concrete Safety Barrier (CSB). This shall be carried out over a length of 6200m coinciding with the parallel north / southbound surfacing works with associated drainage replacement, central reserve hardening and traffic management. At 3 structures the proposed CSB will require bifurcation in order to protect the existing bridge piers, 1 further structure is capable of withstanding collision and therefore bifurcation will not be required.
