Installation of CHP Boilers and Associated Works
The Royal United Hospital, Bath is a 650 bed district general hospital serving a population of 500,000. It is based on a 53 acre site in the Combe Park area of Bath. The Estate is made up of 64 separate blocks that range in age from the 1700?s up to the present date.
As part of the RUH?s commitment to energy saving throughout the site, we are installing Combined Heating and Power generation plant in four separate locations. At present each of the buildings to be upgraded have their own plantrooms each containing two boilers and associated plant such as pumps, valves etc. Each plantroom will have one of the boilers replaced with a Combined Heating and Power unit (this work is to be done by others); all of the existing wiring and controls are to be stripped out and replaced. Each building is to also have current transformers installed at the building intake position so as to allow metering.
There are four plantrooms in total, three of which are virtually identical whilst Bernard Island Building is somewhat different for the others
