The purpose of this procurement is to source a service provider for the provision of a daily (on weekdays) transport service of British Library (BL) collection items between BL premises in West Yorkshire and London.
The BL collection items are mostly transported either in skips stacked on pallets or in closed trolleys. Internal post is also carried, plus other items in roll cages or palletised, as the vehicle capacity allows.
The Service is a key element in the British Library’s service provision to its readers. The reliability and security of the Service are essential and the Contractor must make every effort to ensure that these are maintained at all times.
The British Library takes the security and safe handling of its collections extremely seriously. The successful tenderer for this contract must be able to demonstrate a strong track record in delivering similar services to the required levels of security, reliability and value for money.
A clearly demonstrated ability to supply suitable staff and vehicles to satisfy the British Library’s requirements for the handling of national heritage collections and the security of its premises and property will be key to success in this tender.
The Contract will commence on 1st July 2014 and will run for a period of three years with the option to extend for two further 12 month periods.
