The NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) have a requirement for a Reagent System for the Enumeration of White Blood Cells in Leucodepleted Blood The reagent system must be CE marked with certificated evidence of EC conformity. To supply a reagent system which complies with the European Directive 98/79/EC on In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices (IVDMD). To supply a reagent system which is capable of standardising the enumeration of residual white blood cells in leucodepleted products with WBC counts <1x106/unit which will enable the NBS to fulfil the requirements published in the Standards of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), UK Guidelines for the Blood Transfusion Service (UKBTS current edition) and the Blood Safety and Quality Regulations for the provision of leucodepleted products. To ensure the reagent system is capable of accurately detecting WBC counts in the range of 1 -100x106 leucocytes/L
