Below is some high level information relating to the hospitals and the current catering services in order for potential tenderers to gauge the scale of the Contract and therefore their ability to deliver the services. These details may be subject to alteration in the Invitation to Tender. Conquest Hospital: — Approximate number of beds: 390; — Number of staff: 2 487; — Number of outpatient day visits: 204 823; — Café turnover: 397 000 GBP; — Retail shop turnover: 325 000 GBP. Objectives of the tender: ESHT is planning to refurbish the main entrances of both hospitals to create a more welcoming environment for patients and visitors, improve the facilities and to make it easier for patients to access the services that they require. There is a need to update the catering and retail offers to meet the expectations of the clientele who frequent the hospitals and the refurbishments will create new enlarged spaces for the catering and retail outlets. The Trust is seeking to appoint a contractor(s) to design, build and operate new facilities to deliver high quality services which complement the aspiration to make the main entrance and waiting areas more welcoming. This is an excellent commercial opportunity as there is very little in the way of local competition at both locations. The summary requirements at Conquest Hospital are: — Café style outlet /coffee shop offering tea, coffee, bottled drinks, cakes, pastries, tray bakes, sandwiches and salads as a minimum; — Convenience store offering newspapers, magazines, confectionery, distress items, etc. The summary requirements at Eastbourne Hospital are: — Café style outlet /coffee shop offering tea, coffee, bottled drinks, cakes, pastries, tray bakes, sandwiches and salads as a minimum in the main entrance area; — An additional catering or retail offer in the 2 nd space in the main entrance area; — A café/retail outlet in the lower ground floor area adjacent to the staff restaurant. The hospital is a 24 / 7 facility and the front of house café and retail facilities should operate appropriately to accommodate staff (work patterns vary), visitors (visiting times vary) and patients (both inpatient and outpatient). The minimum required opening times are: — Café: 7:00-20:00 hours, 7 days per week; — Convenience store: 8:00-20:00 hours, 7 days per week. Contract commencement dates: The successful Contractor will commence service delivery at Conquest Hospital on 1.9.2016 and will be required to plan the building projects to fit in with the Trust's main entrance refurbishment programme. This is likely to mean that the Contractor will operate from the existing or temporary facilities for a short period. The successful Contractor will commence service delivery at Eastbourne Hospital on 1.4.2017.
