The Project is for the detailed design and construction of high-standard laboratory accommodation, including DNA and evidence recovery laboratories, support accommodation and offices.
The gross internal floor area of the new 4-storey building is 3,850m2 (3no. floors of laboratory accommodation with an enclosed plant room above).
The works will include site works with up to 240 car parking spaces.
The building consists of in-situ concrete frame and flat slabs. External cladding comprises brickwork / curtain walling / rainscreen cladding.
Electrical services installation will include incoming mains electricity supply, main LV switchboard, fully synchronised standby generator, low energy, high efficiency interior and exterior lighting and associated controls, general and small power, Cat 5E structured cabling installation. A fully automatic addressable fire alarm and detection installation will be provided, along with a Public Address / Bomb Alert System. Comprehensive and fully integrated security systems will be provided including Internal and External Closed Circuit Television and electronic access control systems.
Mechanical services installation will include mechanical ventilation comprising supply and extract air handling plant with HEPA filtration and associated ductwork, fume cupboard extract, heating and cooling systems, automatic controls and Building Management Systems, process water systems, plumbing installation, solar water heating, soils and waste installations, laboratory gases and rainwater recycling.
