The requirement seeks to appoint a Coordinator responsible for the newly established virtual food authenticity network which aims to bring together those laboratories involved in food authenticity testing. Recommendation four (4) of the Elliott review published in September 2014 focused on the capability of laboratory services in food authenticity testing. It recognised that there were a number of different disciplines and techniques involved in food authenticity testing and recommended the creation of a network of centres of excellence which would help bring together all those involved in authenticity testing to provide a more coherent and coordinated approach covering the range of authenticity techniques.
