This requirement is to re-tender the wet hire (with operators) of production facilities of the BBC Drama Village located in Selly Oak, Birmingham where the BBC is looking to appoint a single supplier experienced in providing a fully comprehensive production facility package.

The facilities that will be tendered are cameras with camera accessories (model and type yet to be determined, however the BBC are considering using 4 K cameras) with Directors of Photography, camera operators and camera assists, lighting equipment with gaffer and electricians, sound equipment with sound recordists and boom operator and all purpose vehicles one for camera & sound equipment and one for lighting equipment.

The feature production of the Drama Village is Doctors’ which is a continuing daytime drama serial broadcast every weekday (1.45pm – 2.15pm) on BBC1 and is set in the fictional Midlands town of Letherbridge. The stories are based around the lives of GP’s, nursing staff, receptionists and patients in a GP’s surgery located in the town and also at the campus of the fictional University of Letherbridge. Each episode is thirty minutes in length.

This contract will also cover any other productions by the drama village in addition to Doctors. In the last four years this has included Father Brown, The Coroner, and WPC 56.

The BBC is looking to shortlist Applicants who can demonstrate experience of filming dramas or other scripted genres as a wet hire (with operators) operation providing cameras, lighting equipment and sound.

Applicants must be able to supply all services with a central point of contact for all services as this tender will not be split into lots. Greater consideration will be given to those Applicants who can provide these facilities without the need to sub-contract any of the services.

Out of Scope - The BBC will not consider a dry hire (without operators) option.
