The School of Engineering wish to procure a Tension/Compression Mechanical Test Machine. The equipment is required to enable the mechanical property characterisation of a range of metallic and non-metallic materials of especial interest to the aerospace sector. It will have significant usage as part of taught programmes, undergraduate projects and some research. It would be used for mainly for aerospace alloys and polymer-matrix composites & sub-structures. It would thus be ideal for testing components manufactured by Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM), where there is a critical need for material integrity. The ability for elevated temperature testing is important, as is ease of use for teaching-related activities.
