Among its strategic objectives Carlow County Council seeks to enhance the quality of life in County Carlow for present and future generations. This is done through the provision of a broad range of services to the Carlow community of over 56,875 people over a geographical area of 346 square miles.
Carlow County Council, as a democratically elected body, have a responsibility not only to respond to the needs of the community but also exercise leadership in shaping and working towards the achievement of a shared vision for the future of our county, which incorporates economic, social, cultural and environmental development.
Carlow County Council play a pivotal role in developing the economy of the county, through the provision of infrastructure, industrial promotion and support for community initiatives in areas of arts, culture and tourism. Carlow County Council fulfils its role in partnership with other local and national agencies that are directly responsible for employment creation, social services and economic development.
As part of its economic development , tourism and business support program , Carlow County Council wishes to engage in the development of a variety of feasibility studies for 10 core economic development , tourism and business support projects.
During December 2017, Carlow County Council will launch on online campaign called “County Carlow: What’s the Big Idea?” which will be an online supported survey of County Carlow organisations and individuals encouraged to submit a proposal for economic development, tourism and business support projects by asking them to reply to the following questions:
• What do you believe are areas of opportunity for the County?
• What actions must be taken to realize these opportunities?
• What barriers are hindering business growth?
• What actions must be taken to address these?
This will be supported by a 1 day consultation with key project groups in early January 2018.
